Burning Permits
Burning of brush and tree branches require a burning permit. There is no charge for the permit. The permit is good for three consecutive days. The Imlay City Police Department issues permits. You may call in your request for a burning permit; however, the permit must be picked up from the department.
Imlay City Police Department hours for permits:
Monday through Friday
9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Phone number: 724-2345
335 E. Third Street, Imlay City

Fire Protection
Due to the fact that we currently have a Fire Millage in place, there are not usually any charges to Township residents for fire runs. However, if you are burning without a permit, charges may still apply so make sure that you get a burning permit and follow the rules of it prior to any sort of controlled burns. You may still need to check with your homeowner’s insurance to make sure you have appropriate coverage for fire runs.
